HOW DO YOU SOLVE A PROBLEM LIKE GRAHAM!!!!

So you want to watch this years Eurovision Song Contest which takes place in Baku, Azerbaijan on 26th May 2012 but there is one big reason why you dont want to watch it on the BBC and that one big reason spoils your enjoyment every year, Yes that man GRAHAM NORTON and his stupid commentaries

You might very well hold your hands up in shame GRAHAM "THE EARACHE" NORTON

There is a way around the "Graham" problem, it's not easy but (Graham will love this bit) it's doable!

The question is how to get the Eurovision Song Contest with a English commentary but not that man Graham, but I tried last year I hear you say, and it did not work, I turned the TV sound off and put the Radio sound on, but the TV pictures and the Radio sound were out of sync, they did not match I hear you shout, exactly, this is where the problem lies, how to get the TV pictures and the Radio sound to match, with a little bit of effort it is possible to "mix and match" in sync

So what do you need to do?

Let's start with the sound, what options are there ? well of course the BBC 1 "Graham" sound is out of the question, so where else? the only other sources of English commentary/sound are the UK's BBC Radio 2 and the Irish RTE Radio 1, but we tried that last year you still cry, yes and so did I, you would not believe the lengths I went to so as not to hear the "dulcet" tones of our Graham as our Cilla would call him! and this year I am feeling generous and willing to share the file I like to call "OPERATION AVOID GRAHAM "THE EARACHE" NORTON with you.

Read no further if you cant do the following, to "mix and match" the video and audio you will need 1 dedicated Satellite receiver (Sky, Freesat or Free to Air ) and a dish and/or lnb pointing at 28 degrees east, you also need another Satellite receiver and dish/lnb that you use for receiving your "foreign" TV channels. you also need two sets of audio video leads, the ones with the RCA plugs on one end (yellow, white and red leads) and a Scart plug on the other end and you also need a TV with front AV/Camcorder input sockets.

Every year that the Eurovision Song contest is broadcast it can be found all over the "Satellite"world, it's available on all sorts of foreign state Television channels, As part of this operation I went through the lot of them, I trawled through an A-Z of European "TV" countries , Armenia, Azerbaijan and so on, and so on, until i found the magic key! and I did find it, it was a long hard journey but I got to "the promised land"

So here's how to connect your equipment, firstly tune your Sky/Freesat/28 degrees east receiver to the RTE R1 Extra channel, not the you need to be careful you don't select the wrong RTE ! version as there are two to be found, We need the RTE R1 Extra channel, it's on Sky channel 0142 or you can manually tune it in, it's on Frequency 11.223 Vertical Symbol Rate 27.500 FEC 2/3, once you have this channel then run one Scart/RCA lead out of the back of your Sky/Freesat/28 degrees east receiver and connect the two audio leads (the White and red ones) into the front AV/Camcorder audio sockets on your Television, now your other receiver which you use for receiving foreign TV channels needs to be connected using another Scart to RCA lead, same as before connect the Scart end to the back of the receiver only this time put the video lead (the yellow one) into the video in front AV/Camcorder socket on your TV.

Now you are set up, you have the sound from RTE R1 Extra, you have connected the TV as I explained, so where do you find the in sync picture to go with the sound like I told said earlier I did this last year and out of every English commentary option and every Television picture option the only two that matched exactly, some were so wildly different I would have great difficulty in calling them "live", anyway The only two that matched exactly were RTE R1 Extra at 28 degrees east and FRANCE 2 at 5 degrees west, Frequency 11.591 Vertical Symbol Rate 20.000 FEC 2/3, when I hit this magic combination I could successfully bring OPERATION AVOID GRAHAM "THE EARACHE" NORTON to a safe and very peaceful conclusion, a very, very peaceful conclusion! HAPPY TIMES INDEED

This year it will be shown on FRANCE 3, I don't expect anything else to be different from last year
FRANCE 3 Frequency 11.591 Vertical Symbol Rate 20.000 FEC 2/3 at 5 degrees west,
RTE R1 Extra Frequency 11.223 Vertical Symbol Rate 27.500 FEC 2/3
providing that you connected your equipment as outlined earlier then these two channels will give you the
Eurovision Song Contest sound and vision in sync or even in harmony, harmony being the operative word here!

I wish you a good, harmonious and peaceful enjoyment of this years Eurovision Song Contest on 26th May 2012
